Water Pipe Insulation

Insulate Your Hot Water Pipes

Average Saving: N / A / N / A per year

Stop waiting for hot water and reduce heat loss

Insulating water pipes is a very easy process and it saves you money – twice.

First of all it raises water temperature by 2 – 4 degress fahrenheit due to heat loss reduction. Hence, you can set your water heater to a lower setting.

Furthermore, you do not have to wait as long for hot water – reducing your water consumption.

Therefore, it is very hard to calculate how much water piping insulation saves. There is no doubt that it does, though. Even the US Department of Energy says: “Insulate Hot Water Pipes for Energy Saving“.

How and Where to install water pipe insulation

Both – hot and cold water pipes should be insulated within 3 feet of the water heater. As the US Department of Energy says: Use quality pipe insulation wrap, or neatly tape strips of fiberglass insulation around the pipes.

Further the Department explains:

Pipe sleeves made with polyethylene or neoprene foam are the most commonly used insulation. Match the pipe sleeve’s inside diameter to the pipe’s outside diameter for a snug fit. Place the pipe sleeve so the seam will be face down on the pipe. Tape, wire, or clamp (with a cable tie ) it every foot or two to secure it to the pipe. If you use tape, some recommend using acrylic tape instead of duct tape.

The Department says that this is the best method to insulate pipes. We believe it. We execute it. So get in touch with us.

Best Quality for your Piping Insulation

Using the same water pipe insulation we use on our Solar Thermal applications. K-flex solar insulation handles temperature ranges of 04F to plus 300F.

K-Flex Solar™ – R pre-jacketed, high temperature insulation (300°F) is perfect for eliminating heat loss on supply and return lines connecting solar panels with the storage tank, where UV protection is required.  K-Flex Solar™ – R is supplied in 6 foot lengths and continuous coils allowing for insulation of any type of copper tubing system.

K-Flex USA’s K-Flex Solar™ product line can be used to install your hot water system in half the time of regular insulation systems.
